Moises R. Canal, 93, Of Hackensack

HACKENSACK, N.J. – Moises R. Canal, a resident of Hackensack, died Wednesday, June 29. He was 93.

He was born in Colombia,and came to United States in 1955. 

He was a retired machinist. 

A parishioner of St Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church in Hackensack for many years he was a Eucharistic minister, a member of the Holy Name Society, an usher, and a member of the Knights of Columbus.

He was a volunteer at St. Francs School in Hackensack where all the children called him Papi. 

He is survived by his siblings Maria, Jose Alejandro and Cecilia; children Jamie M. Canal and his wife Marilyn, Nancy L. Figueroa and her husband Mike, Moises J. Canal and his wife Diona, Martha Pertuz and her husband Jorge; grandchildren Matthew, Amanda, Stephanie, Victoria, Miguel,Jennifer, Chris, David, Keith, Anthony, Michael Joseph, Edwin, and Amber Marie; and great-grandchildren Christian, Diana, Thilda, Katia, Ethan, Kayleigh, and Abigail.

He was predeceased by his wife Dora; and a sister, Isabel.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, July 5, from 5-9 p.m. at McCorry Brothers Funeral Home, 780 Anderson Ave., Cliffside Park. The funeral will be on Wednesday, July 6, at 9:45 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 50 Lodi St., Hackensack. Private cremation to follow.
